At JobSniff ("we", "us", "our"), your privacy is fundamental to our engineering architecture. JobSniff is an AI-powered Chrome Extension designed exclusively to analyze public job board postings and protect job seekers from financial scams, ghost jobs, and employer red flags.

2. Information We Collect

JobSniff operates under a strict principle of minimal permission data collection:

  • Active Job Listing Content: When you open the JobSniff side panel on a supported job board (LinkedIn, Indeed, Glassdoor, Wellfound, Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby), the extension reads the text content of the active job post (title, company, pay range, job description) to generate your safety verdict.
  • Account Data: If you sign up for a free or premium JobSniff account, we store your email address and authentication token via secure JWT encryption.
  • Usage Metrics: We aggregate anonymous analysis counts (e.g., number of safety checks per month) to enforce free/premium quotas and optimize system performance.

3. What We NEVER Collect

  • We NEVER read, scrape, or store your private messages, email inbox, chat logs, or social media activity.
  • We NEVER log passwords, financial details, credit card numbers, or social security numbers.
  • We NEVER track your browsing history outside of supported job board URLs.
  • We NEVER sell your personal data or job application history to third-party data brokers or advertisers.

4. Chrome Extension Permissions

JobSniff requests only the minimum required Chrome Manifest V3 permissions:

  • activeTab: Grants temporary access to read text only from the currently focused job board tab when invoked.
  • storage: Stores your user preference settings and auth session locally in your browser.
  • sidePanel: Renders the JobSniff UI natively alongside job board pages without injecting disruptive overlay scripts into host DOMs.

5. Data Security & Storage

All network communications between the JobSniff Chrome extension and our backend API use encrypted HTTPS/TLS 1.3 channels. User auth tokens are hashed and encrypted at rest using industry-standard AES-256 protocols.
